R-Kelly finally addresses transgender daughter

In case you haven't heard, R&B legend R Kelly has a transgender daughter with ex-wife and star of Hollywood exes, Andrea Kelly. 14 year old Jaya Kelly (pictured right) now goes by the name Jay after she revealed she/he has identified as male since he was 7 years old. She's dumped her female clothes and strictly wears clothes and even cut her hair. Jay admitted that her father recently found out about her transition to a boy but her mum and sister have known for a while and are supportive. Well, R.Kelly may know that his daughter now calls herself a boy but he's definitely having difficulty coming to terms with it. When asked about it during an interview at the WCGI Summer Jam this week, R.Kelly shut the reporter up when he referred to Jaya as his son.   "Well, first off don’t start by calling her my son. 60 year old Nigerian woman gives birth through IVF

60 year old Mrs Omolara Irurhe (pictured above) who had been looking of a child for over 30 years reportedly gave birth to a baby girl this past Monday June 16th through the Invitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment at a Specialist Hospital in Lagos. The Nation reports that Mrs Irurhe, who has been married for 31 years, started the IVF treatment in 2010 and said her faith in God and her believe in modern medicine helped her go through the process, after many years of childlessness in marriage. She said her husband, Mr Adekunle Irurhe's Catholic belief of one man one wife made him not to marry another woman and stood by her through all the years.

Kaduna refinery to run at 100% capacity 2015 – Official

Saidu Mohammed, the Managing Director, Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company, says the refinery would run at 100 per cent capacity by 2015. Mohammed made the assertion at a workshop organised by the company for energy correspondents in Kano on Friday. The two-day workshop has the theme: “Managing Information in the Oil and Gas Industry .” Mohammed said that due to the improved operational efficiency of the company at the moment, the plant operated at 60 per cent capacity. “Major units of the fuel section of the refinery, including the crude, fluid catalytic cracking unit has been re-streamed to provide the desired output,” he said. Mohammed added that one of the foreign crude storage tanks had been successfully rehabilitated. According to him, the contract for the rehabilitation of the remaining two tanks had been awarded. He said the company had met with the host communities, adding that several water boreholes had been built for them.

Indian woman says police gang-raped her inside station

An Indian woman said Thursday she was gang-raped by four officers at a police station, the latest in a string of shocking sex attacks in the troubled state of Uttar Pradesh. The woman said she had gone to the station overnight on Monday in the state’s Hamirpur district to seek her husband’s release when she was attacked. “At 11:30pm when there was no one in the room the sub-inspector took me to his room and raped me inside the police station,” the woman told CNN-IBN.

24-year-old Oluwadara, gets Ph.D in Mathematics

A twenty-Four year old Olaoluwa Hallowed Oluwadara Wednesday received a Ph.D award in Mathematics at the convocation ceremony of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) for 2012/2013 academic session.   Oluwadara, whose thesis was adjudged the best in Engineering and Science, having made Cumulative Grade Point Average of 5.0, was described as the youngest Ph.D holder in Africa. He was able to finish the programme within the three years of stipulated period.   He got two first and second degrees in Mathematics (Pure Option) and Physics in 2007 and 2008 respectively, at the age of 18, from the Universite de Bangui, Central African Republic.   Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Oluwadara said his achievement was not only “a personal triumph but a triumph of Mathematics as a useful subject of study in Nigeria.”
