Cars Damaged, Shops Looted As Ex-Militants Protest In Bayelsa

Image
More than 400 ex-militants today took to the streets of Yenagoa, capital of Bayelsa State, to protest against the new deal given to them in the third phase of an amnesty program with the federal government. The protesters smashed the windscreens of 10 cars and burnt one car during their demonstration. In addition, the former militants looted shops along Otiotio Road and Mbiama-Yenagoa Road in the Yenezuegene area of the state capital. SaharaReporters learnt that the protesters used a machete to cut an unidentified hawker in the back. Apprehensive businesses in the area hurriedly locked up for fear of being attacked by the ex-militants, eyewitnesses said. The mayhem erupted around 9 a.m. and lasted for almost three hours, clogging up traffic in the state capital as residents scampered for safety. "This will be my last term," Castro, 81, said shortly after the National Assembly elected him to a second five-year tenure. Health STROKE Stroke has a new indicator! They say if you forward this to ten people, you stand a chance of saving one life. Will you send this along? Blood Clots/Stroke - They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, the Tongue: During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) ...she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 PM Jane passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this. A neurologist says that if he can get to a

FG Insists on National Good Governance Tour In Edo State

Image

The coordinator of NGGT, Mr Samuel Ajayi, made this known in a statement on Saturday, saying that the “Tour Team will go ahead and inspect Federal projects in such states.” “But where any state chooses not to participate, it can opt out of the NGGT without blackmailing the Tour Team” Mr Ajayi declared. “It has become imperative to set the records straight, following comments credited to the Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, wherein he declared that he would not use state resources to fund the National Good Governance Tour (NGGT) visit to his state” the statement read. Explaining the origin and duty of NGGT, the statement noted that the tour is a programme designed by the Federal Ministry of Informa

Tax Payers Money is Not for Fun Fair'...... Oshiomhole

Image
Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has said that he was not prepared to spend the state’s limited resources to finance the Good Governance Tour by Information Minister, Labaran Maku. He said that the Good Governance team had sent in a proposal, imploring him to provide accommodation, feeding and logistics for over 120 delegates, when they visit the state next week. Oshiomhole said, “Whenever Edo State government officials travel to Abuja for official duties, the state takes responsibility and not the Federal Government. "So, it is not proper to use Edo State tax payers’ money to finance a Federal Government programme. "If they pay me a courtesy visit, I will receive them, but I don’t have a dime to spend on them because I do not need them to come to tell Edo people how I built roads and schools. My achievement speaks for me.”

Nigerian Artist Goldie Harvey’s Death: The Bitter Truth By Al-Faruq

Image
This and many more of it happens in a country wherein people get millions both in local and foreign currency for playing football; a country wherein comedians shake hands with the President and women who kiss strange men on camera in the name of acting take home National Award and an immoral youth who made fame singing about his private part is given special opportunity to interview the President in a desperate campaign strategy because the thinking is that the community is populated by zombies and bimbos who will vote in a PHD holder on the “honour” of a nuisance whose only relevance to society, apart from lewd music, is competition in air and space. Thus the question every sane Nigerian should be asking is when will this madness of undeserved honour stop? The death of the musician from Ekiti, Goldie Harvey, and the attempt to make it seem like we lost an icon is another and perhaps the worst of all these madness. I do not believe that death, which we will all face, should mak
